12 presidential candidates endorse Buhari

Ahead of tomorrow’s elections, 12 presidential candidates have endorsed the candidature of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, in a statement said the 12 candidates had directed all their members and supporters to vote for President Buhari tomorrow.

The 12 candidates under the auspices of ‘Forum of Presidential Candidates and Political Parties for Good Governance’ endorsed President Buhari during a courtesy call to the State House, yesterday.

Chairman of the forum, Shitu Mohammed Kabir of Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance (APDA), said they decided to throw in their lot with President Buhari because of advances made in security, economy, fighting corruption, infrastructural development, agricultural revolution, and many others.

“We, therefore, wish to support President Buhari’s candidacy in the coming election, and direct all our teeming members across the length and breadth of Nigeria to go out in their numbers to vote for APC candidates, Muhammadu Buhari/Yemi Osinbajo, in the election,” he said.

Members of the forum that acquiesced to the endorsement included Hon Edozie Madu, Independent Democrats; Danjuma Mohammed, Movement for Restoration & Defence of Democracy; Yusuf Nadabo Dantalle, Allied Peoples Movement; Ahmed Buhari, Save Nigeria Party; and Alhaji Isah B. Dansarki, Mass Movement of Nigeria.

Others were Ikechukwu Nwaokafor, Advance Congress of Democrats; Alista Soyode, Yes Party; Barrister Charles Ogbali, Advanced Nigeria Democratic Party.

Exclusive: Dybala opens up about Messi and CR7

Paulo Dybala has praised the Juventus coach, amid disputes, and expressed admiration to the qualities of iconic international and club team.

The Juventus forward praised the coach for teaching him a lot and denied claims that there is a dispute with him and Massimiliano Allegri. The forward also made claims that Messi and CR7 are much more alike.

With the match between Juventus and Atletico Madrid approaching, Paulo Dybala spoke to UEFA’s official website about the upcoming Champions League match-up and much more.

“I learned a lot from Allegri, especially with regards to the way of working and being a true professional. We must always be focused during training, so as not to be surprised by what happens in the game,” he said.

“The coach has always given me the freedom to move and play where I wanted. This trust is very important because it makes you feel part of the big goals the clubs wants to achieve.

Ronaldo? I’m lucky because I had the chance to play with Messi in the national team and now with Cristiano. Many did not have this opportunity, it is certainly a positive thing because you can always learn from the best. He is a calm lad, like the rest of us, he makes you feel calm, like Messi. I compare them because everyone does it. They are two exceptional players.

Strong Defensively

“Atletico? We know about their style of play, how Simeone closes the lines and how hard it will be but to win this competition you have to beat anyone in front of you, there are no easy games. They are very strong defensively and have quality in the attack. If we are not careful in the defence, they can punish us.

“From when I’m at Juve, the team has shown its full potential. The year before my arrival it reached the Champions League final and once again in 2017, while last year we lost in the quarter-finals against Real Madrid.

“Given what has happened in the last few years, we still have a goal to reach. When you lose a final, you always want another chance to fix things – football always gives you a chance to get revenge and I think we have this chance.

“It is not easy to get to the end. The team is focusing on it a lot and this can also be an obstacle. But at the moment we are very relaxed and we want to return to the final. We have to do things calmly, step by step. We know it will not be easy but we can do it as a united team,” Dybala concluded

In a place like Nigeria, it is not uncommon for a person to order for a desired product and get something quite different. A lot of Nigerians usually take to the social media to register their complaints. Recently, a man took to Twitter to share photos of what he ordered from a restaurant and what he got instead.

The man, identified as Davies, on the mini-blogging platform had come home by 9pm only to find that there was no food in the house. Given the fact that he was hungry, he went to a nearby Chinese restaurant in his area.

He then ordered for fried rice and chicken breast. After waiting for 10 minutes, he was given what he had asked for. However, what Davies saw was nothing like what he had hoped for.

Rather than get the normal fried rice and chicken he had asked for, chicken gravy was poured on the rice and the meat that was supposed to be sitting pretty on the rice was blended within the gravy.

The man who found this rather amusing took to his Twitter page to share photos of the incident. He narrated just how he had come to find the restaurant and how he had been treated to a less than desirable meal.

Elections 2019: Comedian Igodye calls for INEC chairman's resignation over the postponed elections.

Elections 2019: Comedian Igodye calls for INEC chairman's resignation over the postponed elections.

On February 16, 2019, Nigerians woke up to the rude shock of the postponement of the presidential election in the country.

The news of the postponement was revealed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in the early hours of the said date.

February 23 and March 9 were the new dates chosen for elections across the federation. It goes without saying that the postponement angered many Nigerians who would have to re-work their plans to accommodate the change.

A number of people also travelled to their polling units while others had been prepared to vote on February 16, but that was not to be.

Several aggrieved Nigerian celebs took to social media to express their anger. However, Nigerian comedian Igodye, took his annoyance a notch higher.

The funny man was definitely not in smiles as he called for the resignation of INEC’s chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, as well as an apology from President Muhammadu Buhari, who had condemned the postponement of the general elections in 2015 when he was contesting against Nigeria’s former president, Goodluck Jonathan.

Igodye shared an old video from where Buhari had condemned the postponed election in 2015. In his caption, he also explained how the date change affected him and other Nigerians personally.

I am astonished like many other Nigerians who woked up only to discover that INEC has postponed and fixed new dates 23rd for the elections. I feel this is totally unacceptable from an institution like INEC that had been given 185 billon naira to organise it's logistics prior to this day.
Federal government has the financial capacity to bear the extra logistics burden that will be incurred from this postponement, but what happens to the rest of us?Who have planned marriage ceremonies, parties, funeral programs and other social activities who have fixed several events and occasions on the new dates,we are now forced to make new plans, resulting in the loss of time, financial burden and psychological problems.
Unfortunately for me,I have proposed 23rd February as the auditioning date for my project Sort talent hunt at Delta State. After spending so much on publicity, venue and other logistics,I am now forced to change the dates, even the final that was to hold on 27th February will also be affected. This is the highest level of mismanagement and gross interpretation of corruption against the original Nigerians. This is the kind of frustration melted on Nigerian youths on a daily basis, when they are frustrated out of businesses because of electricity, high expenses of goods and services due to foreign exchange rate, unemployment that has led many to crimes and taking risks' through the deserts to seek greener pastures in strange lands;the negative options is created by the insensitive of Nigerian government,it shows they don't really care about their citizens. To even make this situation worst, the postponement was carried out at Night. So when did they realise that the logistics involved was not adequately prepared for? This was how the Goodluck Jonathan past administration postponed the 2015 presidential elections and we condemned it,we felt that with the change mantra that will be end of such maladministration. This is a national embarrassment and deliberate attempt to ridicule us a Nation. Amb Francis Agoda."

- The INEC has been asked to push for reforms of Nigeria’s electoral system

- SERAP said the current electoral process is vulnerable to corruption

- The organisation called on the masses to play active roles in the fight against corruption

Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to push for reforms of Nigeria’s electoral system after the postponement of the general elections.

Channels TV reports that the SERAP made the call on Sunday, February 17, in a statement issued by its deputy director, Kolawole Oluwadare.

“It is clear that the current electoral process is vulnerable to corruption, but politicians would seem to have little incentive to comprehensively reform, upgrade and modernise it.

“It is unlikely that either the federal government or the National Assembly would take the steps necessary to sort out our electoral system, and improve transparency, accountability and integrity of the electoral process.”

The organisation called on the masses to play active roles in the fight against corruption while reacting to calls for the resignation of the INEC chairman, Mahmood Yakuku.

It said: “Calling for the resignation of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu rather than addressing the root causes of persistent postponement of elections is a blatant attempt by politicians to scapegoat the electoral commission.

“We urge Nigerians to take a more active role in the fight against corruption, including by putting pressure on the authorities at the federal and state levels and the National Assembly to comprehensively reform, upgrade and modernize our electoral system and processes. Otherwise, citizens’ right to participate in the governance system will remain a ‘hollow right.

“Given that the right to vote is considered a part of an individual’s fundamental right to political participation, persistent postponement of elections in the country raises serious questions about the legitimacy and integrity of Nigeria’s fledgeling democracy.”

Meanwhile,it was reported that NEC chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, announced the postponement on Saturday, February 16, at a press briefing morning held at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja.

The INEC boss said: “ Following a careful review of the implementation of its logistics and operational plan, and the determination to conduct free, fair, and credible elections, the commission came to the conclusion that proceeding with the elections as scheduled is no longer feasible."

A 69-year-old traditional ruler in Obiaruku community, Ukwuani local government area of Delta State, Chief Festus Akinima, has allegedly impregnated a 13-year-old groundnut seller, Miss Ijeoma Ishima, after allegedly luring her with gifts and huge sums of money.

Police Public Relations Officer in the state, PPRO, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, who confirmed this to journalists at the weekend in Asaba, disclosed that the little girl was put in the family way through the action of Chief Festus Akinima, a traditional ruler in the Community, adding that the pregnancy was blown open when it was five months old.

He said: “Little Miss Ijeoma Ishima, a 13 year old groundnut seller and JSS I student in one of the secondary schools in Obiaruku community was a victim of child abuse, one of the gravest ills at present in Nigeria. As a child from poor background, Ijeoma Ishima hawks groundnut everyday as soon as she returns from school.

“It was unfortunateCcircumstance of little Ijeoma’s life that the traditional ruler took undue advantage of her, and lured her into unwholesome sexual intercourse on several occasions and she got pregnant, and the pregnancy was five months before it was discovered by Ijeoma’s mother”.

Aniamaka explained that Ijeoma’s ordeal started sometime in July 2018, while walking across the compound of Chief Festus Akinima Idele at Wire road , Obiaruku community, and after patronizing her on her first day of meeting with her, Chief Festus Akinima developed interest and lust in her, telling her to always come to sell to him at home everyday because he loves eating groundnut.

Speaking with newsmen in the area, Ijeoma’s mother, Mrs Stella Ishima said: “When I noticed all the signs of pregnancy in my daughter, I questioned her and she admitted she was pregnant for Chief Festus Akinima, and that she has been having long sessions of unprotected sexual intercourse with him, I shouted and my husband heard me, came out of his room with a cultlass running towards his house when people stopped him on the way, and pleaded with him.

“We later informed the Police in Obiaruku who arrested him and detained him before he was granted bail few days after. Chief Festus Akinima agreed at the station to take Ijeoma for a wife and train her.”

THE Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) has cautioned state governors across the country against frivolous spending.

President of the Ondo State Chapter of the union, Comrade Bola Taiwo, asked the governors to set their priority right so as to be able to pay the new minimum wage

Taiwo insisted that government spending on frivolities should be reduced forthwith, adding: “The state governors in the country have what it takes to pay N30,000 minimum wage.

He disagreed with governors who said the new minimum wage, if implemented, would lead to disengagement of workers”, the NULGE chief said.

“ The implementation of the new national minimum wage across the country will not lead to the retrenchment of workers.

“On the issue of the N30,000 minimum wage, we believe the state can pay it. The governor here   said he can pay but he said we should come to work regularly.

“Let me tell you, these governors can pay the money but they spend our money anyhow. We have salary commission and what they should do is that with the help of the constitution, let Salaries be first charge in the tiers of government”.

- NBA said the reasons for the postponement are unjustifiable and unkind to Nigerians

- The association said it is confused on why the electoral body waited that long to shift the exercise

The Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) has condemned the action of the Independent National Electoral Commission over the postponement of the general elections.

This stance of the commission was made known through the statement signed by its president, Paul Usoro on Saturday, February 16, Channels TV reports.

The president, in the statement expressed confusion over the shift of the electoral exercise on the day it should have held.

He asked why the electoral commission would postpone the exercise after it had assured Nigerians of its readiness, saying the reasons for doing so is not justifiable.

Usoro said the action was rather “unkind”, one that has made many Nigerians anxious and put them into the difficulty of having to travel for the elections.

NBA therefore charged INEC to make sure the elections are credible and smooth as the exercise is very significant to the country’s democracy.

Part of the statement read: "The Nigerian Bar Association is confounded by and disappointed with the postponement by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in the wee hours of this morning, of the elections that were scheduled to hold today, 16 February 2019 and on 02 March 2019.

"We are confounded by the postponement, considering the serial assurances that INEC had, prior to this morning, given of its preparedness for the conduct of the elections; INEC had also expressly assured that postponement of the elections was not howsoever in contemplation.

"Our disappointment is compounded by the fact that none of the reasons that INEC has proffered justifies the postponement; all the reasons, with some diligence, could have been remediated.

"It was particularly unkind for INEC to announce the postponement only hours to the opening of the polls for the national elections today, knowing as we all do that most Nigerians register for elections in their States of origin and had traveled there from their various stations to exercise their civic rights...."

It’s unbelievable to everyone including Davido himself, what the young man he gave N1million did with the cash he received.

The young man invested the money on a new tricycle which he shamelessly pasted Davido’s pictures in front of it.

In Davido's words “wise investment” and “smart dude” shows that he is impressed by the young man's move. Additionally, he is surprised that the young man did not foolishly squander the money the way most guys of his age will.
Isn't it surprising to see Nigerian youths having real entrepreneurship ideas? Well, if you have been wondering what he used the money for, here it is.

If you think you might be pregnant, it's important to take a home pregnancy test and schedule an appointment with your doctor to find out; this is the only way you'll know for sure. Before you do that, though, you may be able to notice several telltale signs. Some of these signs begin within a week of conception, so you may be able to tell fairly early on when you get pregnant. Every woman's body is different, and you may experience all, none, or only some of these symptoms. See your doctor to determine whether you are probably pregnant.

Checking for Hormonal Changes

Pay attention to your menstrual cycle.Pregnant women do not menstruate during the course of their pregnancies. If you miss a period, that is usually the most obvious indicator that you are pregnant. Nonetheless, you can miss periods for other reasons, such as stress or even overexercising. If you don't already, get in the habit of keeping track of your menstrual cycle so that you can better detect a late or missed period. All you need to do is mark when you start and end your period on the calendar. That way, you can see how your cycle generally runs. There are also mobile apps (like Dot and Lady Timer - though Dot is more advisable. I use it)  that make it convenient and easy to track your cycle.

Feel for swollen or painful breasts.Because of the hormones released in early pregnancy, you may notice some changes in your breasts. They may swell slightly or be somewhat sore to the touch. You may also notice that your breasts feel "fuller" or heavier. Your nipples may feel swollen, painful, or tingly.

Look out for spotting and vaginal discharge. You may have spotting when the newly fertilized egg attaches itself to the wall of the uterus. Implantation usually happens within a week to a week and a half after fertilization. This symptom can last for about 3 months. Spotting is usually lighter in color than your menstrual blood.

Check for cramps. You may also notice some cramping early on. Mostly, these should feel like they do when you have your period. However, if they are heavy or if you notice that they are pinpointed on one side of your body, it can be a sign of a complication. Call your doctor if you suddenly experience severe cramps.

Notice unusual fatigue. Many women feel extremely tired in the early stages of pregnancy. This symptom is usually attributed to increased progesterone levels. It may also be caused by the fact that your body is producing more blood to account for the baby. You may notice this symptom as early as 1 week after conception.

Pay attention to how often you urinate. Another early sign of pregnancy is frequent urination. When you become pregnant, your body produces more human chorionic gonadotropin (your Pregnancy Test strip tests for it's presence. It's presence shows that you're 100% pregnant), which is a hormone. This hormone, which is highest in the first few weeks you are pregnant, pushes more blood to your groin area. In turn, you need to go the bathroom more.

Watch for moodiness. Hormones can do a number on your moods, just like they do when you have your period. If you are feeling extra moody, it could be a sign you're pregnant. This symptom can appear 2 to 3 weeks after you conceive.

Look out for dizziness. Another early symptom of pregnancy is feeling dizzy or lightheaded. Mostly, this symptom is caused by hormonal changes. However, it can also be caused by a difference in how much blood your body is producing.

Pay attention to headaches. Sometimes, a headache is just a headache. However, an increase in headaches can be an early symptom of pregnancy, due to hormonal changes in your body.

Paying Attention to Other Symptoms

Look for morning sickness. Morning sickness can strike early in a pregnancy. Despite its name, morning sickness doesn't just happen in the morning. You may have an upset stomach any time of day. Your may also experience some vomiting. This symptom can strike as early as 2 weeks after conception.

Pay attention if smells or foods bother you. You may start noticing you suddenly don't like certain foods or smells. It will come out of the blue, and you may have been just fine with them before. In fact, these foods or smells may make you nauseated.

Notice how hungry you are. Often, you will find you are much hungrier if you are pregnant. If you notice you are eating more than normal and still find yourself hungry, you may be pregnant. Some women describe this symptom as a constant hunger.

Watch for a metallic taste. Sometimes, women experience having a metallic taste in their mouths. This symptom is especially prevalent in the early stages of pregnancy.

See if you have cravings. Like food aversions, you may start craving certain foods. Of course, everyone gets a craving for a certain food every now and then. Nonetheless, pregnancy cravings tend to be more intense.

Check for breathing problems. Sometimes, you may notice you get out of breath more quickly in the early stages of pregnancy. Usually, this symptom is mild. However, if you do notice this symptom, it's definitely a sign you should see your doctor.

If any of these symptoms become unbearable during your pregnancy, talk to your doctor to determine what can be done to safely alleviate them.

Many of these signs can also be symptoms of other medical conditions, so it's important to seek medical care to determine their cause.

Not all pregnant women experience all of these symptoms. In the very early stages of your pregnancy, it's possible that you won't experience any of these signs, so take a test to find out for sure whether or not you're pregnant.

Channels television reports that many vehicles were burnt in the incident after some thugs attacked where party agents and supporters waited for the delivery of sensitive materials from the state capital Uyo.

The suspected political thugs were said to have gone haywire after suspecting that the sensitive materials being expected from Uyo had been allegedly hijacked.

Enang gave the assurance in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Uyo, Akwa Ibom.

Many ladies would prefer using Postinor 2 to prevent unwanted pregnancies  but what they don’t now is that constant and abusive use of the morning after pill can have so many harmful and negative effects on the body. It can even cause life-long, irreparable damages to the body and your health.
Here are some of the effects of Postinor 2 on the body;
1. Vaginal Bleeding: One of the effects of using Postinor 2 in a constant and abusive manner is that it can cause the vagina to bleed nonstop.
While the bleeding may not be more than regular blood drops in some people, it is usually more severe in others depending on the body system. This vaginal bleeding is different from the normal menstrual cycle and sometimes, it messes up the menstrual cycle of a lady causing it to either come earlier or later than it should. When the vaginal bleeding and spotting continues, you must seek for medical attention and remedy immediately.
2. Drug Interaction: Needless to say, there are certain drugs that mustn’t be used together. This is because one of the drugs can either increase the toxicity of the other or decrease it effectiveness. It is the same case with using Postinor 2 with other drugs, it can cause drug interactions which in turn limits the ability of Postinor 2 to do what it was intended for. When a drug interaction takes place, it could either result into pregnancy or a more complicated health condition especially for patients with Asthma, epilepsy, visual impairment and so on. This complication in worst scenarios could even finally result in death.
3. Sexually Transmitted Diseases: The regular and abusive use of Postinor 2 increases the risk of contracting sexually transmitted diseases, especially for people who have unprotected sex. While a condom might seem like a major show spoiler, it is safer to have protected sex than unprotected sex that is likely to result in STDs or STIs. Postinor 2 is meant to be used as a preventive measure against pregnancy and not sexually transmitted diseases.
The use of Postinor 2 leaves you vulnerable to sexually transmitted diseases out there and this poses a high risk to your state of health. Therefore, it is more advisable to use a condom rather than Postinor 2 because it can simultaneously protect you from getting diseases and also getting pregnant.
4. Infertility Risk: Because of the lack of knowledge on the right way to use Postinor 2 and the usage of Postinor 2 as a regular method of contraception by some ladies, there is a decrease in the fertility rate of a lady. Often more than not, many ladies use Postinor 2 in the wrong way, even using it with other drugs to increase its ‘potency’ and using more than twelve pills in a month, thereby resulting in an irregular monthly period.
When a woman’s monthly period begins to seize or becomes irregular, the chances of being able to get pregnant in the future becomes slim. This is because for a woman to have her monthly period, ovulation must take place and when Postinor 2 is constantly used or abused, it obstructs ovulation which in turn obstructs the menstrual cycle thereby reducing the chances of conceiving to slim or zero.
